& downward Man swerves
actions beyond th'verb,
goings past all returns;
a century or more we go
till out of breath,
choked (to) a status quo
between Defeat/Success!
till Time trumps up again
some slightly less turned an Aim
and Man, like a watered flame--
leaps down the drain
