ALEMBIC
This is the simple life (a frog
taking its time to cross the walk,
a robin in whose austere talk
the universal dialogue
of Nature's heard,
a melancholy note in whose
too-plaintive character ofttimes
one sees th'dreams of curious rhymes
their puzzling Moods produce
in tears stirred,
a girl's hair which streaming by...
on currents of an April's morning-wind
leaves all th'cares of life behind
to wither in too wide a World's sigh)
all so sublime, all so absurd!
