ENDs

WITH THE MEANS
Cezanne's Riverbanks
So nice and O, so nice
to be conveyed
by True notes
down th'cool stream &
along th'now of palms

when SUDDENLY we step on a false note!

but enough True notes
follow us, often quickly enough
to forgive the indiscretion
drowning it in a shower
of nice so nice True notes

when: SUDDENLY we step on
a second false note!
Heavens! And upon a third one

Hell! A fourth one--Shit! And
five, seven, twenty, a hundred
thousands & thousands! and

millions! And, long after
it even matters any more (at all) if
we've realized it, we're
conveyed un-nicely through
nought but false notes

--And yet, what the Hell:
even if they're not taking us There

at least they're getting us
out of Here!
