Manet's Branch of White Peonies & Pruning Shears
O winds that blossom in the wildest beauty known!
Although you venture onwards
on the static Tide of
Morning &, or Evening filled with making
Night & Day
Winds
which tremble quietly on th'
for nowhere motions
of eternity
--Do tell me who has suffered
where-from you have gone away
or wasted time rejoicing where you've stayed?

You spoil World's so grand illusion of
raindrops falling: Emblems of
Nature's surrender to Sorrow & Woe with
your wondrous uninterest in us!
[sic]

Winds blossoming beautifulest
unknowns
--Always you bring
[sic]
th'empty bones of fullest Spring
following them always with Winter's
Wings so overwhelmingly
emptying th'World's warmth
with your unfeeling Sweep
into shadows-of-things.
