NO LION IS A LAMB
I know the lion is no lamb
although he's sleeping there like one
(his fangs hidden... as if he had none,
and his claws sheathed in a nappy sham)
But do not bother trying to tell me
one needn't keep one's every eye on
our so huggable friend the lion
--because he is such a lamb--
Although I'm sure I cannot tell
how I know this play so well
without catching its final act:
I know that to cross the lion intact
one uses farther & farther
and further tact (and tiptoes
very, very well... in fact).
